Any mum knows just how daunting the return to work can feel after maternity leave, and it's something Scherri-Lee Biggs is wrestling with right now.

Ahead of her return to presenting the weather for Nine News Perth on Sunday night, the mum-of-one spoke with 9honey Parenting about life with daughter Isla, and her excitement – nerves, too – about coming back to TV.

"It's definitely mixed emotions, like, it's nerve-wracking," she said.

"It just seems like the first six months is such a blur and, you know, you just sort of find your feet and then you're like, 'Oh, it's time to go back to work.'

"But at the same time I'm so excited as well to kind of have a bit of myself back again."

Scherri-Lee and her husband Daniel welcomed their first child, Isla, in February.

And just like a lot of other new mums, the presenter has had moments where she's felt like she doesn't even know who she is anymore outside of the baby bubble.

"I always laugh when you just leave to go to the shops for a bit and you don't have a baby in the car. It's windows down, music, sunroof open, you know, just letting the hair down – just for a trip to the shops," she laughed.

"This might be my little escape as well, and then I get to come home and, and be Mum again."

Thankfully she's had some pretty good advice from other mums about coming back to work.

"A lot of people have said to absorb that time for yourself as well, as hard as it is, and it is an adjustment," she said.

"I guess that's what I'm looking forward to as well is just finding a bit of my identity again."

There's also a bit of mum guilt that comes with it.

"I think managing that guilt, and just knowing that you're doing the best thing for your family as well," she said.

"And for yourself. It's not selfish to want part of yourself again."

Scherri-Lee has been with Nine for 10 years, admitting the nice thing about her return to work is coming back to such a supportive team who have become like a family throughout her career.

"It's the most amazing thing and amazing change that you'll ever go through," she said.

"I just love being a mum so much."

Scherri-Lee added it's been such an adventure and that watching a baby grow and develop while you're doing the same as a parent is both weird and wonderful at the same time.

"It feels like you're doing nothing all day, but you do so much at the same time," she laughed.

"The way I describe it, it's just the wildest trip you'll ever have."
