Parents slammed for taking five-year-old son to Hooters to celebrate his birthday

Turning five is a big milestone in any little person's life. Suddenly you're not a little kid anymore, you're either at school or it's fast approaching and it's halfway to double digits.

So it feels like a birthday worth celebrating. Unfortunately for one little boy, Zander, however, his parents decided to take him to the rather adult-geared Hooters, rather than say, McDonald's.

Posting a clip of her son being sung happy birthday by waitresses at the chain – infamous for its tight-fitting uniforms, on TikTok, user Darby Allison captioned the clip: "Shouldn't have told them it was your birthday buddy."

When they ask his name, the little boy looks overjoyed at their well wishes, before looking slightly sheepish when they put a paper beak on him and ask him to flap two paper plates around.

They then announce his birthday to the restaurant and break out in song.

But if the mum was looking for any more well wishes by posting the clip, she was instead inundated with people slamming the couple for their choice of venue.

"Seems more like the dad's birthday rather than the kid's," said one.

"Who is taking their child to Hooters (especially) on his birthday," one questioned, while another sarcastically added: "Bro, he's five. What's he doing in Hooters? Great mum and dad."

However, not everyone was against the move, with one fellow mum commenting: "I'm doing the same with my son!! So cute."

"This is so adorable. A memory he will never forge.. living the dream."
