A mum has received a nasty note from a neighbour complaining about the noise her toddler son makes at night.

The recipient of the letter shared a photo on Reddit's 'Mildly Infuriating' thread, explaining: "Neighbor left this note on my door because my toddler runs around during his bedtime routine at 8:30 pm…"

"Hello. We have communicated before about the running multiple times before, unfortunately this will be the last attempt," the note reads.

It continues: "If you don't get it under control you will have an officer at your door each night for a noise complaint.

"You have the opportunity to change this outcome, as to if you do not [sic], it is entirely up to you."

The note recipient explains, "The thing is, they called the police once before and all the officer said was 'Oh I have twin girls! Have a goodnight.' Like what do they want them to do? Arrest a toddler?

"They're literally going to be wasting police resources on a mum with a 3 yo..., our police department is already severely understaffed."

She explains she has already done "everything to combat the noise" and have started putting the toddler to bed 30 minutes earlier due to the complaints.

"Originally he was going to bed at 9:30 but we started putting him in there an hour earlier so he'd be settled in sooner because we felt bad," the post continues.

"We suspect my son has autism so we can't just tell him to be quiet, he genuinely doesn't understand commands.

"I'm beyond frustrated and we have tried to be accommodating but at this point, they seem to want me to strap my 3 year old down or carry him while we do his bedtime routine."

The neighbours have shown up at the stressed out parent's door twice at 10pm to complain in person.

"They've both showed up at my door at 10 pm to complain at least twice already," she says.

"We've already spoken with the office. Noise ordinance hours start at 10pm! He's asleep by then so we are doing nothing wrong. At this point we just have to let them call."

People have made suggestions as to how to reduce the noise in the comments.

"Maybe a rug would help? Maybe that's why a long narrow rug is called a 'runner,'" one said.

"If the rule is 10 pm, perhaps get a print out of that & put it on their door. That way they also know the rules," another suggested.

"And make sure 10 pm is passive aggressively highlighted," added another.

One commenter predicted it's the neighbours who will find themselves with the police knocking on the door if they continue with these complaints.

"Let them call the cops a few more times. Then see how they like when they show up to get them for fraudulent complaints," they said.

"The OWNERS of my building have 2 boys (3 & 4ish) who run and scream throughout the building with zero attempts to teach them manners. It's obnoxious. One of my neighbors even named his wifi 'Stop Running On The Second Floor,'" one shared.

"I've had this issue," said another. "3 kids above me. Run around like crazy. It sucks. I pay rent too. I understand kids are not easy but I also deserve respect too.

"Luckily for me my neighbors do try. I try not to be too bothered by it. But there are moments where I go crazy with all the running, screaming."
