Mum's hilarious 'allergic reaction' mix-up during labour

Most dads-to-be are keen to help their partner in whatever way they can when she is giving birth - but one man's attentiveness caused confusion and concern in the delivery room.

TikToker Alisa Silva explained she had just been given an epidural when her partner asked her if there was anything she needed from the shop. She asked him to grab her a chapstick, as her lips felt incredibly dry.

Alisa says she was pretty out of it by the time he came back, thanks the epidural. She let her partner apply the chapstick to her lips, while she sat there, eyes barely open, feeling sleepy and pretty dazed.

But when nurses returned to the room they started asking if "everything was OK".

When more nurses arrived, they started to mention the words "allergic reaction", and Alisa became confused. Suddenly her boyfriend revealed the tube of "chapstick" he'd generously applied to her lips, and everything made sense.

He'd mistakenly bought a tube of bright red lipgloss. What the nurses were seeing on Alisa's face was a bright red smudge all around her mouth that looked very much like she was having an allergic reaction to her pain medication.

Alisa says as soon as she was shown a photo of herself, she immediately cleaned her face and tried to move on from the mortifying moment.

The video has now received over 2.1 million views, and TikTokers cannot contain their emotions about the story.

Others shared their own hilarious hospital mishaps.
