Mum's fury after friend criticised her baby name for meaning 'badly-behaved'

Parents usually keep their chosen baby name to themselves till the birth of their child, to try to avoid any negative judgement. But once the baby arrives and the name is out there, there is no stopping other people's opinions.

One couple knows this too well after a close friend of their criticized their newborn son's name, claiming it would have been "the last name on their list."

The harsh comments leaving the mum furious with her friend who make the "unnecessary comments" directly to her face.

In a post on Mumsnet, the mum-of-two explained that her friend had come over to meet her second son Jack for the first time when she made the bold comments.

Once she settled into her newborn visit the friend said that she wasn't a fan of the name Jack as she believes, "it's associated with bad behaved boys and it's just not a cool name."

She didn't stop there. She also told the mum that she didn't think her first son's name was 'cool' either and asked, "Why do we go for such simplistic names?"

The harsh comments left the mum angry, eventually leading her to ask her husband to confront her friend about it.

"I would never judge anyone's name choices so I'm super angry that behind close doors they b---h about my boys names," she wrote.

Users on the platform took to the post to write a number of supportive comments for the mum who they believe has a right to be upset.

"That is rude. It's a golden etiquette rule of my mums to never comment negatively on a baby's name or appearance!" one wrote.

Another said, "It is incredibly rude to sneer to someone's face about their children's names."

Most also complimented the name choice saying it's a name they are also very fond of.
