Mum-of-four mocked for kids' unusual names that sound 'like IKEA furniture'

Once a child is named, their parents' choice should be respected, or at least not openly mocked.

But one mum is living out the worst of social media after sharing the names of her four children and being trolled for 'sounding like IKEA furniture'.

Cortni Davis, from the US, filmed a TikTok saying their names, which trolls were quick to fire insults at.

"I have four kids. My first one is a 12-year-old girl, her name is Kentlea. And I have an eight-year-old son, his name is Odin," Cortni shared.

"I have a three-year-old son, his name is Hvltserk (pronounced Vitzerk). And I have a one-year-old son, his name is Ivar."

But while Cortni may have loved her unique names, others were less enthusiastic.

"I have your son's shelving unit from IKEA," one person mocked. "Why do you hate your kids?" slammed another.

"Fan of the show Vikings?" enquired another, with the three youngest sharing names with characters on the hit TV show.

And another cruelly added: "Sounds like those infomercials for medication."

"Hvitserk. That'll be fun. Honestly, Kentlea is the one who is least likely to get bullied and that's saying something."

Cortni hit back at the trolls in a follow-up post, slamming them for teasing and 'bullying children'.

"I know y'all are [all] grown adults on this app making fun of kids' names," she said. "I hope you have the day that you deserve."

She also explained that they had chosen the names as a nod to her husband's Scandinavian roots.

She also responded to people saying the names made the family sound 'uneducated'.

"Welp... you'd probably also hate to know I was a teen mum too," she fired back.

"I'm sure I could give you lots of reasons to make assumptions about me... still doesn't change the fact that I also have a doctorate and actually make a pretty good living with it,"
