Polly Pocket toys selling for thousands on eBay

Vintage Polly Pocket toys are selling for up to $2,500 on eBay.

But before start trawling through your children's old toy containers, there are a few things to keep in mind.

Polly Pocket toys went out of production in 2015 and now collectors are clamouring to get them, offering huge sums.

Other less rare Polly Pocket toys are attracting bids from $100 - $600.

eBay has shared advice for customers looking for the toys, saying it's best to do some research before making a bid, pointing customers to the official Polly Pocket website which it calls an "invaluable resource".

Any Polly Pocket made after 1998 would have been manufactured by Mattel and these are the ones attracting massive amounts of money because they include hinges that allow the miniature dolls to move.

Those toys in excellent condition or still in their original packaging are also worth more.
