Jules Sebastian doesn't mind that she is a soccer mum. In fact, she enjoys it.

"I actually enjoy waking up early on a Sunday, going from sport to sport to sport to sport," she tells 9honey.

"You see a bunch of people you like and other parents and hang out with them for a bit and cheer your kids on and everyone's exhausted in a really good way by the end of it," she says.

"We have people over for dinner that night. I love to cook and so we love to entertain.

"So it's a very sort of regular, normal existence that everyone's kind of doing the same thing alongside of each other and come together and every now and again people over for dinner."

Jules and husband, singer Guy Sebastian, are parents to two boys – Hudson, 12, and Archie, 10.

It's their youngest child who has inherited his father's love of music the most.

"Archie really loves music as well," Jules shares. "He's just starting to get into singing and writing songs. He's just started putting lyrics together and writing melodies. He's got a really good sense of rhythm which is really cool to watch.

"He's come up with these lyrics and song ideas. He knows how to play piano, how to play drums."

She describes their family how as "very loud" as a result, not just with the sound of music being created but balls bouncing.

Hudson starts high school next year and Jules can't believe how quickly time is passing by.

"When they were really small, that was quite slow, but now the time is absolutely flying," she says. 'I'm just looking at my boys and they're so big. Their feet are bigger than mine."

As her boys get older, their needs have also changed, with Jules making sure to spend one-on-one time with each of them to check in on their emotional needs as well.

"It goes from being quite physical and hands-on and carrying things and people everywhere and then they become little humans with hearts and feelings and how they observe the world and how they navigating through it. It's cool to be a part of that, I enjoy that side of things."

A typical day starts off with driving Hudson to the bus stop before she takes Archie to school.

"So I get those little pockets of just having one of them at a time," Jules says.

"The boys know that if they're feeling something or they need to talk something through they can just say, 'Mum, can I have a chat with you?'

"It is very sweet to have that connection with them and for them to feel like they have that connection with us as well."

Having lost her brother Andrew to suicide in 2008, Jules and Guy have always prioritise discussing feelings with their boys.

Jules describes her husband as excelling at this, saying he is "very good at articulating whatever's going on his his heart."

"I always say, his brain, his heart, and his mouth are one," she says. "Like they're so connected, and he can just say how he feels in the moment, and he's very good at articulating whatever's going on in his heart."

She describes herself as more of a "processor" when it comes to expressing her feelings.

"I can take away the information, sit with it for a minute and then I can sort of figure out how I'm feeling, so they [Hudson and Archie] sort of have the best of both worlds with us where they see us processing our emotions in a different way," she says.

"But always at the end of, it always comes down to talking about it and communicating it and it's better out than in," Jules says. "That's what we always say. Be honest, be upfront, tell the truth, and then you can move on."

This Mother's Day, Jules is looking forward to a special family day.

"Well, of course, it always involves food. It always involves eating," she says of their plans.

"We are gathering with some of the family that lives in Sydney, which is Guy's side of the family. So he's got two brothers, so there'll be his two brothers, all of their kids and us. There'll be a spread of course," Jules describes.

"We'll be incorporating, of course, our Sunny Queen frozen goods into that, platters, probably a brunch, I would say. So breakfast wraps and platters that include that and just a small board of a breakfast," she says.

Both Jules and Guy's mothers live in Adelaide so they'll be giving them each a call at some stage during the day.

"We do a FaceTime and of course Guy's mum as well and we send a gift so that she'll have that ready for the weekend."
