British reality TV star's son diagnosed with congenital heart condition

The Only Way Is Essex star Jess Wright has taken to Instagram to share her son Presley's recent, terrifying diagnosis.

She revealed the two-year-old has been diagnosed with a congenital heart condition called Bicuspid Aortic Valve explaining it is "something he was born with."

"Essentially, instead of having three leaflets in his aortic valve, like most, he only has two," the 39-year-old explained to her followers, adding that the condition affects how blood flows from his heart to the rest of his body.

Wright said her son will require "monitoring & care over time" and at least two operations.

"I won't go into the full details right now, but whilst this is please God not a fatal disease, we are coming to terms with the fact that our son will need intervention at least twice in his life. By intervention I mean open heart surgery," she shared.

"Saying those words out loud physically hurts my soul, hence why for a few months we have been coping with this news & trying to navigate it," she admitted.

"We know that Presley is strong and resilient," she said. "With the help of modern day medicine, Presley will live as normal life as the next child, we hope & pray."

Wright said she decided to share her son's condition publicly to raise awareness and for support.

"I also know that this platform will help me share & get information, express my feelings, find answers to questions, & provide much-needed support and knowledge to others in need," she wrote.

"I would love to hear from any other parents who are navigating this unknown & very scary territory, as knowledge is power & it is a comfort to know that we are not alone."

She ended her post by thanking family, friends and followers for their "love and support." Wright said she will also contact Brompton Fountain Children's Charity to assist with their fundraising.

The Brompton Fountain is the children's charity at Royal Brompton Hospital in London that supports cardiac, respiratory and critical care.

Jess Wright appeared on British reality TV series The Only Way Is Essex from 2010 until 2016. She moved onto acting roles and music.

Wright married husband William Lee-Kemp in 2022, welcoming their son a year later.

Before Presley's diagnosis she had expressed a desire to have another child. She told The Sun in February this year: "I would love a sibling for Presley. He loves children. He's really, really loving and I just can't imagine not growing old with like more children than one, but with work and stuff, and how everything's going at the minute, I kind of don't know how I'm gonna fit it in.

"So yeah, it's that real tough balance, isn't it?"
