Why Hilaria Baldwin decided to share her miscarriage as it was happening

Hilaria Baldwin has responded to critics, revealing the reason why she decided to share her miscarriage as it was happening.

Last week the 35 year old took to Instagram, cradling an ever so slight baby bump, to say she was “most likely experiencing a miscarriage”.

While the mum-of-four received a wealth of support and praise from people for sharing her story, there was also some criticising her decision labelling her miscarriage post “offensive” and “annoying”.

In an appearance on the US Today Show, Baldwin discussed the importance of speaking up about miscarriages to erase the stigma around them, and to not to have to “deal with it silently”.

“You're definitely not supposed to say anything before 12 weeks, and some of that is because people are superstitious, or that's how they feel they're going to be stronger, and a lot of it, for other people is from fear,” she explained.

“I don't think we have to live with such fear.”

The wife of Alec Baldwin also detailed the moment she went in for an ultrasound, and how the technician’s reaction was very quiet.

Upon being told the heartbeat wasn’t “very fast”, Baldwin admitted on the show the signs were looking like it wasn’t going to be “a viable pregnancy”.

Just a few hours later, Baldwin announced on Instagram the embryo had no heartbeat at her most recent scan.

“I hope this conversation continues to grow and that we stick together through both the beautiful and challenging moments in life,” she said.

“Much love and appreciation to all of you.”
