Foster mum praised for Ramadan preparations for Muslim foster child
Important religious occasions are often a time for celebration, but for foster kids it is can be a painful reminder of being uprooted from their families. One foster mum is garnering praise after showing her efforts to celebrate Ramadan in her home for her Muslim foster child.
Tanika Bonneville, 22, posted a TikTok video detailing her preparations.
She has provided dates in an advent calendar which will help break their fast, decorated the house with lanterns, a countdown calendar to Eid, a DIY wreath with "Ramadan Kareem" (meaning "Have a generous Ramadan") written on it, and more.

The foster mum is gaining praise for her efforts to help her Muslim foster child feel at home. TikTok
In a follow up video, she also showed all the halal food she would be preparing throughout the month, and mentioned that she would also be trying to fast during this month.
Viewers were grateful to see the effort that the foster mum was making.

"This speaks volumes...You are appreciated and valued more than you know," said one commenter.
"I'm going to cry (because) me and my sister never got this when we were younger," wrote another.
"Thank you so much for this, so many Muslim kids in the system aren't able to practice their religion most of the time so it's so heart warming to see," another explained.
"This is wonderful of you. Honestly. If only people were as kind-hearted and as respectful as you," said one commenter.

Tanika said she was appreciative of the support, and would love to be corrected on the practices she was implementing in her home.
"I'm learning and trying to do the best I can. I see all 'criticism' as positive too," she wrote in a comment.
