Baby names facing extinction in 2024
The popularity of baby names ebb and flow over the years but experts have started to compile a list of names that could be on the way out for good.
While some parents might consider these as unique names, the Baby Centre says they are definitely at risk of becoming extinct.
They predict names like Keanu and Flo are becoming less popular as parents move away from celebrity-based names.
While old-fashioned names like Peggy and Leroy, once adored by the boomer generation are now being rejected on mass by Gen X and Z.
So here are the top 20 boys and girls baby names that we might not see for much longer.

Taking the number one spot for the most 'endangered' girls' name for 2024 is Flo – a shortened spelling of Florence – which has dropped in use the most according to experts at the BabyCentre.
It's believed the name's connection to actor Florence Pugh (whose nickname is 'Miss Flo') could be part of a noticeable decrease in celebrity-based names, as parents go for choices not associated with existing famous people.
Maira is number two on the extinction list after going on a steady decline since it's peak popularity in 1992.
Vivienne derives from the French version meaning "lively."
Once a top choice for names in 2015, there are concerns Vivienne could soon be classed as 'endangered.'
While Zara is among the most popular names for the year ahead, Zahraa isn't, as parents opt away from the alternative spelling.
The BabyCentre reports they're monitoring a lot of alternative spelling names such as Zahraa that are fluctuating through the charts.
Alyssia is a German name meaning Noble which reached its peak in 1997 but has failed to reach the same heights of popularity since.
Deema means 'rain cloud' in Arabic or 'beautiful' in Persian.
The name reached it's peak popularity in 2016 and has slowly started to drop since.
Kiera has held a steady popularity through the 80's, 90's and today but the BabyCentre feels like this could be a name facing extinction soon as parents opt for more common names.
Latifa is brimming with positivity meaning "gentle," "kind," "pleasant," and "friendly."
But all that positivity isn't rubbing off on parents, with less and less choosing this delicate sounding name recently.
