"What pattern do you think has been hardest to break as a mother?" Mendes was asked while appearing on Parenting & You by Dr. Shefali.
''Yelling... because I don't yell when they need me. I've never yelled, like, 'Shut up' or anything," Mendes explained.
"It's not in my mind, like, a 'mean' yell, but it doesn't matter. I yell. And it's this yelling that I find so cultural.

''I hope I don't look back in 20 years and go "oh shoot..." because I really don't want to raise by fear. That's the one — sorry, I get emotional over it — because it's so not fair to the kids.
''I hope that I'm not unknowingly putting some pressure on them through fear like I was raised,'' she added.
Mendes previously took a step back from Hollywood to focus on motherhood, but she recently said she might make a return to acting.
Her and her husband reportedly started dating after working together on 2012's The Place Beyond the Pines.
