Cameran Eubanks defends her choice to stop breastfeeding her three-month-old

A US television star has candidly declared she is “retiring” from breastfeeding.
 
Cameran Eubanks, a real estate agent who featured on docuseries Southern Charm, welcomed her first child in November 2017.
 
After almost three months of nursing her baby daughter Palmer, the new mum says she is “done”.
 
“I am retiring the boobs,” Eubanks, 34, told her almost 700,000 Instagram followers in a post last week, adding that it was simply a personal choice.

She concluded her post with a message of solidarity for her fellow mums.
 
“You are NOT a bad mother if you don’t like breastfeeding,” she said.

“A happy Mama is the best gift you can give your baby. (At least in my opinion.)”
 
While Eubanks predicted she’d receive some criticism - and she did - her post received overwhelmingly positive comments from fellow mums, many of whom praised her decision.
 
“Good for you for knowing when to stop … Postpartum recovery's already rough enough physically and emotionally,” one wrote.
 
“Sanity is always the best choice,” another added.

Some mums shared their own experiences of breastfeeding and what led them to stop.
 
“I stopped after 3 weeks with my son. Then I felt like I could breathe, I didn’t have anxiety over when he’d be hungry next and I was finally able to enjoy holding him,” one woman commented.
 
“I swear, breastfeeding made my skin crawl.”
 
“No judgement here! I tried to breastfeed for 2 months, ended up pumping ( and supplementing) for 8 months...it wasn't fun at all,” another said.

It seems she's achieved exactly that.
