Boy with autism sings in front of shoppers

A young boy with autism has impressed shoppers with an impromptu rendition of a Smokey Robinson song while shopping with his mum.

Calum Courtney, 10, who lives in Essex in the UK sang "Who's Lovin' You" in front of a crowd of shoppers who seemed impressed with his attempt.

"He did not realise how good he was until he saw the video," mum Tupney Courtney, 34, told SWNS.

"He said, 'Mum, I'm actually really good."

Calum refers to his Austism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) as his 'superpower' and Tupney says he doesn't get nervous in front of crowds.

In fact the more people, the better.

"He has no nerves," she said. "If there's an audience, if there's anybody from one to 100 people to sing in front of he loves it. He just loves to sing."

The UK mum said Calum is musically gifted and taught himself to play the drums at just 18 months.

"He loves how it feels and hearing the sound of his voice when he sings," she said.

The video went viral after his proud aunt shared it on Facebook.

It has been viewed more than a million times and a music producer has approached Calum to be part of a charity album.
