'My husband thinks it's too weird': Pregnant woman asks if she's in 'denial' about baby name situation

When it comes to baby names there are some you're just drawn to and a style you start to focus on. 

But one woman has asked the internet for help after her husband found a very 'weird' issue with the name she wants for their daughter. 

Sharing her story on Reddit, she explained that she loves names ending with a strong 'e' sound.

The issue is, her favourite one is the name of her in-laws' pet.

"I really like names ending in the strong 'e' sound…Lilly, Audrey, Holly. My favorite being Sophie, which happens to be the name of my in-law's cat," she wrote.

"We are very close with my in-laws and my husband thinks it's too weird to name our child with the same name that they call their cat every day. The cat won't be around forever, so I think it's fine. Am in denial of its awkwardness?" 

Sure, a pet and a baby are two very different things, but a lot of people agreed with her husband on this one. 

"I think it's weird personally and I'd avoid the name. My husband has vetoed a couple names for similar reasons. One of my favorite names (Lucy) was the name of his childhood dog," replied one person.

"I think it's awkward too! But I think Lilly and Holly are both lovely choices!" added another. 

Another person gave a very good reason for not going with the same name as the cat. 

"This is awkward. Find another name that isn't the cat's name. Every cat my family has ever owned lived 20 years. When they live that long, you end up with pictures of them, stories with them, etc. their name comes up decently often," they replied.

Other people didn't see an issue with it at all. 

"I don't think it's that odd. If it was YOUR cat it would be strange but it's not so I don't really see the issue lol," one person replied.

"This actually happened to my cousin (except it was a dog) and nobody cared. Everyone just called the baby "Baby ____" or "Human ____" commented another person.
