From your friend's dad to 'cool girl' names: The hottest name trends for baby girls in 2025

Deciding on a baby name is one of the hardest things you'll ever do as a parent, and there's a lot to consider.

For some soon-to-be parents trends can help point you in the direction of a forever name, and if you're due with a little girl this year, you're in luck. 

Collen Slagen, a baby name expert who goes by the name of Naming Bebe on TikTok, has shared the hottest name trends for 2025 for girls and there's really something for everyone.

"I'm gonna give you a lot of good name inspo and then tell you what I would choose at the end," she said in the video.

Slagen rattled off some of the hottest name trends right now, starting with "vintage darlings". 

"Yes, that's a euphemism for grandma names," she added. 

Think names like Eloise, Clara, Georgia, Ida, Lottie, Thea and June.

Next is "cool girl names" which Slagen described as short and punchy. Examples of these names include: Gwen, Romy, Harper and Navy. 

"We have romantic hyper-feminine names, names like Elodie, Felicity, Ophelia, Lenore, Colette," she said. 

"I love how adorably precocious these feel for a little girl and most of them have playful nicknames like Coco, or Letty for Colette."

Why 'my best friend's dad' has become baby name inspiration

The last trend is probably the most out there, and we've heard it mentioned plenty of time before about name trends for 2025 - my best friend's dad. 

"Stay with me, these are names that very well could be the name of your best friend's dad, and somehow they're so cute for a baby girl," she said. 

"Andy, Stevie, Scottie, Billie, Benny, Nicky."

Slagen suggested that there are some ways to have your cake and eat it too, meaning you can combine the trends. 

Think the name Scarlet but go with the nickname Scottie. 

And the name she would be going with from these hot trends if she was about to welcome a baby girl this year: Kit Eloise.
