Fake heiress Anna Delvey refuses to attend trial due to outfit dislike

Fake heiress Anna Delvey – real name Anna Sorokin – reportedly refused to show up in court on Friday because she didn't like her outfit.

According to the New York Post, after arrived from Rikers Island, where she is currently be detained, wearing a tan coloured prison outfit.

Authorities offered her a civilian outfit consisting of a white shirt and black pants, but Sorokin refused to enter wearing the ensemble.

"Again, with all due respect to your client, she seems a bit inordinately concerned about her clothing,” Judge Diane Kiesel told Sorokin's lawyer.

“This is a trial. She is a defendant in a criminal case. I am sorry if her clothing is not up to her standards, but she’s got to be here.”

The 28-year-old, who is currently on trial for grand larceny, was placed into a holding sell, and then told her attorney Todd Spodek prison workers were apparently wrecking her designer outfits.

Sorokin also claimed she was feeling "nauseous".

“The clothes that are there, they are all dirty,” Spodek told the judge. “There are logistics issues with the clothes getting to Rikers.”

The New York Post recently reported Sorokin enlisted the help of celebrity stylist Anastasia Walker to dress her as her trial continues at the Manhattan Supreme Court.

Walker, who has previously dressed the likes of Madonna, Kanye West and Travis Scott, has turned Sorokin’s courtroom appearances into her very own catwalk, as she has reportedly been wearing high-end brands like Victoria Beckham, Miu Miu and Yves Saint Laurent.

However for her court appearance on Friday, she was without any of her designer goods, but the judge was adamant Sorokin to get herself sorted in order for the trial to proceed.

Eventually the pretend socialite entered in her prison clothes, and finally agreed to wear the shirt and black pants that were on offer.

Sorokin allegedly stole $379,000 (US $275K) between November 2016 and August 2017, according to the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

She is also accused of providing "falsified bank documents" to secure a $22 million bank loan.

Sorokin could face up to 15 years in prison if she is found guilty.

Posing as a fake German heiress named Anna Delvey, Sorokin managed to convince a series of wealthy New York socialites she was just like them in the hopes of opening a Manhattan arts club.
