Tracy Grimshaw issues hilarious warning about lockdown haircuts

It's clear everyone stuck in lockdown is desperate for a haircut right about now — especially those in Sydney who are entering week seven of lockdown, with no obvious end in sight.

With hairdressers set to be closed for a little longer yet, many Aussies are resorting to DIY cuts and A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw can attest the results aren't, well, the best.

Taking to Instagram, Grimshaw shared two photos sent to her from a friend who gave her husband's hair the chop.

"My mate just cut her husband's hair and he's still smiling," she captioned the post.

"No one give him a mirror," she then joked/warned.

The finished 'look' speaks for itself.

The 'attempted' tidy up, with clippers, is something most hairdressers will recommend not trying at home but given the exceptional circumstances millions of Aussies are currently in, if you're going to do it, there are some tips worth following — if you want to exit lockdown without looking like you've had a fight with scissors.

Hair stylist Paul Geronimo recommends using clippers over a razor because they're safer, easier and almost foolproof, and settling on the length before starting.

"I would suggest using clippers and the guard to establish the length on top — I usually use 4 or 5 — and use that all over first, before choosing a shorter length for the back and sides," advises Geronimo.

This isn't the first time Grimshaw has provided some much-needed laughs during lockdown.

Last month, as masks became compulsory in office settings, she shared a 'useful' hack with her followers to stop her glasses from fogging up when masking up.

"Couldn't figure out why the whole office is laughing at my latest mask/glasses hack, so I took a selfie," her caption began.

"Okay now I get it. Glasses fog up if they're not sitting actually ON the mask, but then they slip down. So I solved the slipping-down issue. It's not a fashion show people!!!"
