Ed Sheeran's sweet moment with terminally ill Adelaide girl

Ed Sheeran took the time to meet a very special young fan ahead of his sold-out Adelaide concert last night, posing for several photos.

"Today Holley got to meet her favourite singer Ed Sheeran for a meet-and-greet, such a amazing experience for Holley," her family wrote on her official Facebook page.

"What a great humble guy."

Holley Sophie Lavington is a beautiful five-year-old girl battling the rare genetic condition Batten disease.

Batten disease is an inherited disorder of the nervous system that first appears in childhood, causing mental impairment, worsening seizures, progressive loss of sight and motor skills and early death. There is no cure.

Holley is a huge fan of the 27-year-old singer and stayed to watch the concert she had been looking forward to for months.

Her mum said she's been a fan of the UK singer since before her diagnosis.

The meeting was organised by Holley's speech pathologist who contacted Sheeran's management team to organise the meeting.

Ed Sheeran is currently touring Australia and New Zealand as part of his sold-out world tour.
