Doctor delivers twins the same day she gives birth

A devoted doctor has delivered twins on the same day she gave birth.

Dr. Hilary Conway, an OB-GYN in Washington in the US, gave birth to daughter Verna on December 12.

While resting in hospital the following day she received a text from patient Katie Moss who was in labour with twins.

Katie told Murphy Moroney from POPSUGAR she knew her doctor was due around the same time she was but thought she'd text her just in case.

"Ultimately, I decided to just throw the text out there," she said.

"I never heard back from her, and once I got to the hospital I forgot about it entirely because my contractions were taking over."

Katie said it wasn't until she was admitted that a nurse told her she was being placed in a room next to her doctor, who had just given birth.

Dr. Conway had just put her baby down for a nap when she saw her patient's text, popped next door and delivered the twins.

The doctor told POPSUGAR she feels it's a privilege to help patients during the most important experience of their lives. "And they trust us to care for them and their child," she said.

Dr. Conway and her new daughter has since been sent home however Katie and her twins Luke and Soren remain in the care of NICU.
