Divorced mum turns wedding ring into a gift for her daughter

When Devin Petit posted a picture of her early 21st Birthday present online, her tweet went viral.

Not just because she was given a lovely diamond bar pendant necklace but because of the moving message behind it.

Despite her parents divorce over ten years ago, the pair have remained amicable throughout for the sake of their daughter.

"My parents always maintained an amicable relationship and were really conscious of me and how I felt and always put me first," she added.

Beardsley even had it made at the same jeweller that made her original ring and told BuzzFeed: "I think it represents successful co-parenting over the years and the love that both her dad and I have for her."

And the sentiment has been giving the internet all the feels, with hundreds of people congratulating the pair for being such a great example of "what divorced parents should be like".

The original post on Twitter has already gained close to 300,000 like and nearly 30,000 retweets.

"Do you mind if i cry," one person replied, with many sharing similar teary sentiments.

"How lucky are you to have two loving parents who didn’t forget there was a time they were very much in love and clearly didn’t use you as a pawn when their relationship sadly broke down," one user tweeted, adding: "Unless the break-up was due to violence, this is how all divorced parents should behave!"

It wasn't long before others shared their stories of gifts from divorced parents with similar symbolism.

One person posted a photo of her diamond and love heart necklace, writing: "My parents gave me the rings and I picked this design.. only necklace I've worn since I was in 8th grade.. So happy this is something other parents do."
