Digital nomads: The Aussies travelling the world and making a fortune

Reid Butler

For these young Australians, the world is their oyster. It’s also their office.

“Realistically, it’s the best of both worlds. You’re getting to travel while earning money and doing what you love,” Annie Moon-Arkell told A Current Affair.

Annie, a Sydney digital marketing specialist, is what you’d call a 'digital nomad' - a young person who has swapped full-time work in an office for their own business, powered by a laptop and a wifi connection.

The flexibility and ease of working for herself means the 27-year-old can do jobs wherever she likes, at her own time.

“We can all go to a villa in Greece for instance, and (my friends) can go for a swim in the pool while I get some work done,” she said.

“Then we can all go out in the day for an adventure, and then when we get home they cook dinner, while I get a little more work done.”
