'I'm under the weather with a double whammy': Deborah Knight confirms reason for on-air absence

Journalist and 2GB radio host Deborah Knight has confirmed she is unwell following some time off from work.

Knight, the host of Afternoons with Deborah Knight, has been off the air for three days and has subsequently had listeners questioning the reasoning for her absence.

The presenter took to Twitter yesterday to confirm that she is sick. She gave a shout-out to Joe Hildebrand and Mark Levy who have been filling in for her.

"Big thanks to @Joe_Hildebrand and @marklevy2gb for helping to steer the good ship Afternoons on @2GB873," she wrote in her tweet. "I'm under the weather with a double whammy of a seized up lower back and a case of the Shingles. Not ideal. Hopefully I'll be up and at 'em soon."

A spokesperson for 2GB said today, "Joe Hildebrand and Mark Levy have been filling in for her. We wish her well and hope to see her back as soon as possible."

The announcement follows a post from the 2GB presenter last week where she revealed her back pain struggles.

Knight reached out to Twitter followers for advice asking, "Ok — acute lower back pain after a spasm. Flat on back. Can't stand up. Suggestions?"

Knight's absence on air has been felt by dedicated supporters who chimed in with well-wishes for the journalist.

Fellow 2GB host Mark Levy commented on the post writing, "Get well soon Deb!!!"

Another listener wrote, "A big amount of empathy from Perth, WA, Deborah. I can relate well — get well soon."

A third added, "Not ideal — hopefully you'll be back on your feet soon."

It is not clear when Knight will be returning to her segment Afternoons with Deborah Knight on 2GB.
