Channel Nine newsreader and journalist Deb Knight has opened up about the “emotionally draining” and difficult journey she went through to conceive her first child, Darcy.

The popular presenter has spoken to Shelly Horton on 9Honey’s Failing Fabulously podcast about how she perceived she had 'failed' because she couldn’t fall pregnant naturally.

She then shared the incredible real-life coincidence that brought her husband, Lindsay, and Shelly Horton into contact when the couple first fell pregnant.

“I went through IVF for quite a while before I fell pregnant with my son Darcy,” she tells Failing Fabulously.

“It was a traumatic time.”

Knight went through IVF for two and a half years before she fell pregnant.

She spoke of the “great optimism” of the first procedure, only to have many disappointments to follow.

“I was doing the 5pm news at the time, I was going in the morning, driving to a clinic and then having to go into work and put the game face on," the newsreader recalls.
