'Spooky' reflection spotted in David Jones's new Christmas bauble

This year, David Jones has managed to launch its Christmas collection with an unexpected Halloween-ish twist.

The department store has shared photos of its Christmas baubles for 2020 on its website, and a spooky figure has been spotted in the reflection of one of the ornaments.

The hand-decorated bauble, featuring gold beading and diamantes, looks like your regular dazzling European glass bauble.

Yet on further inspection, a ghost-like hand can be seen in the reflection.

Retailing for $24.95, it's certainly one way to draw attention to your Christmas tree this year. David Jones

Is it just a photo-shoot gone wrong? The department store's clever prank? Or an ominous figure, annoyed that David Jones skipped Halloween decorations and went straight to selling for Christmas?

Though the hand appears to be a spooky surprise, a zoomed-in image reveals three fingers of a hand clasped around a phone, capturing the photo.

David Jones describes the ornament, which is exclusive to the store, as "hand decorated" and "made in Poland".

It seems David Jones' photographers fell prey to the dreaded "reflection conundrum" several times while shooting the new collection of baubles for its website.

In a collection of six gold ornaments, a shadowy figure can be seen in the reflection taking an aerial shot of the decorations.

A hand-painted, glass-blown blue bauble also features a person taking its photo in the reflection.

'Tis the season to know what our Christmas tree selfies will look like. David Jones

One bauble, described as an "iridescent" white glass ornament, shows an individual snapping the item with a digital camera - clearly upping the camera quality.

Personally, we'd like to thank David Jones for the realistic depiction of what our Christmas ornaments will look like when we're busy taking thousands of pictures of our trees this year.
