David Beckham's anniversary gift to Victoria wasn't as fancy as you'd expect

Considering they have a combined net worth of hundreds of millions of dollars, you’d think Victoria and David Beckham would celebrate all their big milestones by rolling in gold, diamonds and caviar before flying off to the Bahamas in a private jet.

(Or whatever luxurious things multi-millionaires do in their spare time.)

However, when their 18th wedding anniversary rolled around this week, the soccer star and the Spice Girl-turned-fashion designer kept things surprisingly low-key.

Documenting the occasion on Instagram Stories, Victoria shared snapshots of the various gifts she’d received throughout the day. There was a special anniversary breakfast, a bunch of flowers from the couple’s four children - Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper - and wine and chocolate from David.

But don't assume it was some fancy-schmancy expensive chocolate from a remote alpine town in Switzerland - we’re talking good ol’ supermarket choccie:

For context: Galaxy Minstrels are as common as Maltesers in the UK, and will cost you around the same.

In other words, David Beckham’s anniversary gift of choice will give you change from a $10 note. Apparently, there’s a “long story” behind their significance, so maybe don't follow his lead for your own anniversary.

Chocolatey gifts aside, the pair also paid tribute to one another by posting throwback photos on Instagram, as they do every year.

This time around, Victoria chose a candid shot from their 1999 wedding, while David opted for the couple’s iconic red carpet appearance in matching leather outfits.
