Daughter’s touching reason for 30-kilo weight loss

A woman in the US gave her dad the surprise of his life when she revealed the cause of her 30-kilo weight loss journey.

In 2016, Dawn Muhammed’s family were happy for her when she hired a personal trainer to get fit.

Little did they know, the Atlanta woman was embarking on a two-year life transformation so that her body would be healthy enough for her to donate her kidney to her ailing father.

When Muhammed’s dad, Lucious Daniels, was diagnosed with stage-four kidney failure and put on a five-year waiting list, the devoted daughter sprang into action and consulted a doctor.

She found out that her blood type made her a potential donor match, but that her body mass index prevented her from being considered.

So, in December 2016, she set about training to lower her BMI. 16 months later, Muhammed reached her goal and got the all-clear from doctors.

“I was at work and I received that phone call,” Muhammed said in an interview with Fox5.

“It was 9 in the morning when I got the call, and the first thing they said was ‘You are a perfect match with your father, you are a perfect match.’”

Just recently at a gathering, Muhammed surprised her father and their close-knit family with the good news

“When it finally sunk in and I started crying, all I could do is give her a hug,” Daniels, who has to undergo kidney dialysis twice a week, said.

Daniels and Muhammad are scheduled to go under the knife on Aug. 31.

“I’m very thankful to be able to help my father have normalcy in his life,” Muhammed said.
