Love in a time of coronavirus has seen dating app use go through the roof, especially with in-person meetings a thing of the past thanks to lockdown.

Now a new niche site has launched this week — specifically for people looking for relationships with a 20-year age gap.

That's right, for men and women out there looking for someone older or younger by exactly two decades: there's an app for that.

Aptly named 20 Dating, the desktop or mobile site allows users to search not only for Mr or Ms Right but for friendships as well.

"The glamorous world of movie stars and music artists is full of large age-gap relationships, some as extreme as 20 years," creator David Minns told Metro UK, adding: "20 Dating brings a little of that in reach of us all."

While the site is only a few days old, Minns hopes it will lead to long-lasting love for at least some users.

"Hopefully, it will generate some amazing serious relationships, but failing that, inject some excitement back into people's lives with a relationship that is different to the vast majority," he told the publication.

As Minns explained to Fox News, "it's impossible to sneak a look at someone 19 years older or younger. Everyone is effectively distanced by 20 years."

The dating app does allow people to also extend out a larger age gap; but, like most others, it matches candidates on personal details such as location, age, gender, sexuality and personal interests.

Gone is the ol' 'swipe to match' — here, users are allowed to directly contact anyone they're interested in.

However you may not see any images of your beau before striking up a conversation, with photos considered "optional". Alternatively, they can be uploaded with the person's face cropped out of shot to "respect users' privacy".

As of Wednesday, 20 Dating has 350 members, with 66 per cent identifying as male, 32 per cent as female and 2 per cent as transgender.
