Crown Princess Mary celebrates New Year's Eve

Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark have celebrated New Year's Eve at the Danish royal family's annual banquet.

Wearing a stunning cranberry gown and adorned in jewels, Mary carried a simple clutch as she joined her husband and the rest of the royal family at Christian VII Palace in Vestibulen.

Last year the Crown Princess wore a midnight blue gown to the event.

The Danish Royal Family hold the event in keeping with tradition, to wish happiness and prosperity on the entire kingdom.

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark hosts the event each year.

Mary and Frederik spent their Christmas in Tasmania, where many of her family still live, also spending time on Sydney's beaches.
