'Do you two even know each other?' Man roasted over bland text exchange with girlfriend

A man has shared a text exchange with his girlfriend, admitting it caused him to become concerned about their relationship.

He indicated on Reddit the following exchange was typical of their interactions.

"Chats between me and my partner is this normal?" he wrote on the platform's 'Mildly Infuriating' thread.

Their mundane exchange begins early in the day. His girlfriend begins it off by saying, "Good morning," next to a love heart, and he responds: "Good morning."

She prompts, "How are you?" His answer: "I'm okay you?"

His girlfriend responds, "Not bad," to which he simply says, "Nice."

They both then write "yeah" before the girlfriend asks, "You still at school?" and he answers, "No. You?"

His girlfriend says, "Lol I meant work not school." He responds: "Yeah that caught me off guard lol."

"Lol," she answers. He then texts, "Yeah" and she asks, "What are you up [to]?" He answers: "Nothing. You?"

Redditers were quick to weigh in on the exchange.

"Ya'll talk like your parents are gonna take your phone and look through it," one observed.

"The parents will find this and just be disappointed," another added.

Another described the exchange as "two cardboard boxes talking to each other."

"Do you two even know each other?" one asked.

One observes that they are "both dry" so most likely perfectly suited.

"A dead fish can't get mad at the other fish for just staring back at it, and neither of you is making a real effort so not sure how it fits the sub unless it's to make us mildly infuriated having to read dead fish having a conversation," another Redditor shared.

One commenter said the text exchange may be explained by the fact both were at work and most likely busy.

"Have you tried contributing to the conversation," another challenged.
