Family's 'Survivor'-style competition decides who has to do the dishes during lockdown

Ultimate productivity has become a theme of isolation, but one family has taken things a step further by turning their chores into a Survivor-style competition.

The Quinn family has mastered the art of quarantine entertainment, documenting their after-dinner routine in a TikTok video emulating the cut-throat antics of the popular reality TV show.

Holding Tribal Council-style votes to determine who is assigned to which household chore, the family of six has turned everyday mundane tasks into a battle for pride, cleanliness, and ultimately immunity from having to do any work.

"We've been watching 'Survivor' for as long as I can remember, and we always joke about eventually applying for the show and winning it," one of the four Quinn children, Caroline, tells Insider.

"So every night after dinner in order to determine who does the dishes, my family votes for the person they think should."

The family gathers around their dinner table during the voting process, naming the person they believe must complete the after-dinner washing.

Note: whoever cooked the family meal automatically receives immunity.

When siblings Charles and Alice score equal votes in the latest video, the family decides to invoke Survivor's iconic tie-breaking fire challenge to determine the outcome.

This involved the pair attempting to light a fire in the family's fireplace.

After an hour of attempts, Alice's hand cramped up, so she passed the duty onto her teammate William. He successfully produced a fire first, leaving Charles to do the dishes.

The fire starting challenge spanned over an hour, documented on Caroline's TikTok @whatthecinnamontoast TikTok

The TikTok video, captioned with the Survivor mantra "outwit outplay outlast", has since been viewed more than a million times, garnering 400,000 reactions.

The Survivor parody received glowing praise from viewers, with a few even sharing their own strategies.

"Y'all gotta form a sibling alliance to vote for your parents," suggested one user.

"I love that y'all opted to do a 1+ hour thing as opposed to the 20 minutes it would take to do dishes. Big chaotic energy and I'm here for it," wrote another.

Admitting she didn't expect the amount of praise the video received, Caroline tells Insider: "I felt really validated and excited that other people found it entertaining."

While the Quinn family may not be receiving Survivor's signature cash prize, they have earned the love of the internet.
