A bride has been labelled "selfish" after going on a shocking rant where she accused one of her guest of using the coronavirus pandemic as an "excuse" not to attend her bridal shower.

The bride, who hails from Canada, took to Facebook to vent her frustrations after the pandemic started to affect her wedding.

But it wasn't an issue of her venue closing its doors or restrictions forcing her to cancel her nuptials.

Instead, the bride was fuming that one of her bridesmaids was "using COVID-19 as an excuse not to come" to the wedding.

Explaining that she already postponed her bridal shower and wedding ceremony, the bride wrote that she's "gearing up for my new dates with restrictions in place".

But one of her bridesmaids is still worried about attending any gatherings when the coronavirus is still a very real threat, and the bride doesn't like that.

"Our hall will be much larger than required and will be socially distanced. She can also wear a mask if she wants to," the bride said of the bridesmaid's concerns in a screenshot shared on Reddit.

"She doesn't need to welcome or hug people. All I need is for her to be there and sitting with me. Being at my [bridal] shower wearing a mask (if she wants) is no different to going to the grocery store or work."

The bride went on to say that she was "embarrassed" by the thought of being a bridesmaid down at her shower, before taking a dig at her bridesmaid's fears.

"Has anyone confronted how illogical some people are being? Or just accept and screw it?" she concluded.

However, the internet quickly came to the consensus that she was the one being "illogical".

Reddit users slammed her for being so "selfish" and dismissive of her bridesmaid's concerns, seemingly downplaying the very serious nature of the pandemic.

"COVID-19 can kill. And it may be your wedding but that doesn't mean people should be willing to get sick or die for you," one said.

Others took issue with her dismissive attitude towards masks, one writing, "Love how she keeps mentioning the bridesmaid can wear a mask 'if she wants' which means she will be letting other people attend not wearing a mask."

It's not the first time a bride has copped backlash for prioritising her wedding over her guests' health.

Last month a bride announced she wouldn't let anyone wear face masks at her wedding for aesthetic reasons, saying she doesn't want the photos of her special day ruined.
