I copied another woman's wedding

Shelly Horton

Confession: I copied another woman’s wedding.

All the time and effort she put into her dream wedding was as easy as copy and paste for me.

I half expected that, as I walked down the aisle, she’d jump out from behind a bush and scream, “B---h stole my wedding!”

I got married two years ago so I figured now I’m safe to tell this story.

So, here’s how it went down.

My now husband Darren, and I decided to have a destination wedding. We’re big travellers so we looked at a map and asked ourselves what country would be warm, sexy, fun and have great food. The answer was Mexico.

I had only been to Mexico City for a day in transit and Darren hadn’t been before so we had no idea what to expect. We knew we didn’t want “Spring Break” craziness of Cabo or Cancun and we’re not hippies so Tulum was ruled out. But Mexico seemed like a great idea.

Related: A royal wedding is on the way!

She never found out, but if she did I would just say “Thanks mate, you sure know how to organise the perfect wedding!”

We’re planning to go back for our ten-year anniversary. Maybe I’ll see her there!
