TikToker reveals mum's cutting Christmas card message one year after cutting contact

A TikToker has shared the cutting comment her estranged parents wrote in the Christmas card they sent to her.

"I went no contact with my parents on December 26 of last year and this year, they sent me a holiday card," @basilshome explains in a video shared on TikTok.

"So, let's have a look. You can see here that it is addressed to me and my partner, and let's have a look inside," she says.

The TikToker then shows the front of the card, which has "a nice little hedgehog on it."

"And when we open it up, it has a little holiday message inside," she continues.

They show the opened card, which has been signed by "Mum, Dad and Toby," with Toby being the family dog.

The message reads: "I hope you can live with yourselves."

The TikToker (who uses she/they pronouns) says it serves as a reminder that it has "never been easier to live with myself than after I stopped talking to them."

She ends her video by saying her mother provided "a gift" by reminding her of "exactly who she is and reassuring me that yes, I did go ahead and make the exact right decision."

Their video has been viewed 1.8 million times. Many viewers shared similar experiences with their families.

"I'm also no contact with my mom and it kills me inside honestly. Thanks for sharing this," one said.

To which the @basilshome responded: "Sending so much love. It's wild when that pain is better than the pain of having them in your life. It gets easier."

"Reseal it and return it to sender," one suggested.

Another commented: "I'm really proud of you I'm hoping to have this kinda power in the new year."
