Chilling moment killer dad confesses to murdering his wife

US dad Chris Watts has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the murder of his pregnant wife and their two daughters.

The chilling moment he confessed to killing his wife has been released by the Weld Country District Attorney’s office, along with footage of the moment where he was told he failed a polygraph test.

In the video, the 33-year-old stayed composed as he was bluntly told by a member of the Colorado Bureau of Investigations that his answers were not truthful.

The agent then attempted to draw a confession out of Watts, who after talking for some time shut down the interview and demanded to see his father, Ronnie.

When Ronnie entered the room the pair started to talk and that’s when Watts told his father he’d “freaked out” and killed his wife in a rage after an emotional fight over plans to separate.

“Oh my God,” Ronnie can be heard saying as he drops he head into his hands.

“She hurt them,” Watts told his father, “And then I killed her.”

“I freaked out… and did the same thing to her,” he continued.

Watts claimed that Shanann choked or smothered their daughters, Bella, 4, and Celeste, 3 and killed her after witnessing the act.

He later told agents a similar story.

“The evil that I saw when I walked behind Shanann when she was [choking daughter Celeste],” said Watts.

“I didn't know what to do. I didn't know what to (expletive) do. None of this made sense!” he explained, but it was all a lie.

Watts denied killing their daughters and didn’t admit to the crime until he entered his plea deal at the Weld County Courthouse over two months after he committed the murders.

Last month he was sentenced this month to five life sentences with no possibility of parole after pleading guilty to the murders.

Over the last week around 2,000 pages of documents were released by the Weld Country District Attorney’s office including details of his affair with work colleague Nichol Kessinger.

Prosecutors cited Watts’ desire for a “fresh start” with Kessinger as a motive for the killings.

The documents revealed intimate details of not only his relationship with Kessinger, but with his wife Shanann too including claims that he wasn’t the father of the baby she was carrying.

Watts told Kessinger he didn’t know Shannan was pregnant until the day she went missing, and that she had told him he wasn’t the father according to the documents.
