Anthony Bourdain’s daughter pays tribute at concert

The death of chef, writer, TV personality and artist Anthony Bourdain has rocked the international food landscape.

Since it was announced the charismatic chef took his own life last week, there has been an outpouring of tributes from celebrities, colleagues and friends.

Now, Bourdain’s 11-year-old daughter has made a tribute of her own during a concert performance over the weekend.

Ariane Bourdain made a special nod to her late father - famous for his dry humour and witty disdain for pretentiousness - when she stepped out to perform for an audience wearing the rock-n-roll, studded leather boots he once gave her.

In a post on her Instagram account, Bourdain’s ex-wife and mother of Ariane, Ottavia Busia, shared a message in his honour.

“Our little girl had her concert today. She was amazing. So strong and brave. She wore the boots you bought her,” the Italian TV celebrity and MME fighter wrote, addressing Bourdain.

“I hope you are having a good trip, wherever you are.”

On Friday, it was reported the 61-year-old chef had been found dead in a French hotel apartment.

Friend and fellow chef Eric Ripert discovered Bourdain in his hotel room, where he had been staying while working on an episode of his awarded and much loved TV series Parts Unknown.

Bourdain’s employer, CNN, released a statement revealing the tragic news.

"It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain," the statement read.

"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller.

"His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."

Friends, colleagues, celebrities and those influenced by Bourdain’s remarkable talent and character took to social media to express their grief and shock.

Since splitting with Busia in 2016, Bourdain had been dating Italian actress Asia Argento for the past year.

She remembered Bourdain as someone who "gave all of himself in everything that he did."
