Talking Honey: Can cheating save a marriage?

When Ulrika Jonsson revealed that she once considered asking her husband if she could have an affair in a bid to save their marriage, we were shocked.

She said that menopause had a major impact on her marriage, and when then-husband Brian Monet started to lose interest in her sexually, Jonsson started considering finding intimacy elsewhere.

The couple had only had sex once in eight years and she wanted to feel wanted again, leading her to almost ask for permission to start an affair.

Though the TV personality never did pop the question to Monet, her story raises an interesting question about marriage and sex.

Namely: could an affair ever benefit, or even save a marriage?

Shelly Horton sat down with Jane de Graaff, Jo Abi and Ben Fordham to discuss the hot button issue and consider how an arrangement like this could actually work.

They pondered if an affair could really fix a sexless marriage, or if it would just be a band-aid fix for much deeper issues.

The panel also discussed how marriages where medical or other reasons make sex impossible might actually be improved by such an arrangement - provided the couple communicates properly.
