Camilla commits major faux pas in front of the Queen at Commonwealth Day service
When the Queen arrives at a royal event, she does so last as she is – understandably – the most important one there.
Her entrance also commands attention, with all eyes gazing upon Her Majesty as she makes her appearance known.
But perhaps a slight gasp went out when Queen Elizabeth walked into Westminster Abbey for the Commonwealth Day celebrations.

That's because just minutes before Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, had arrived wearing an outfit nearly identical in colour to the Queen's.
Camilla looked striking in a deep purple velvet Bruce Oldfield coat, with a matching hat decorated with feathers.
Underneath she wore a dress in a slightly lighter shade.

In comparison, Queen Elizabeth's purple ensemble, by private dresser Angela Kelly, was characteristically regal and equally bright. She accessorised with her Kent Amethyst brooch, which is part of a set, including a necklace and earrings, once owned by Queen Victoria.
As head of the Commonwealth, Queen Elizabeth is undoubtedly the star guest.
So, it's a little surprising Camilla chose to wear the same coloured outfit, committing what some would call a major fashion faux pas.
Perhaps Prince Charles' wife didn't know the Queen was wearing a similar shade and it was simply a mistake.
However, it's likely Camilla's dresser would have been in contact with the Queen's lady's maid to ensure there would be no clash.

Regardless, both women looked incredible and there didn't appear to be any sign of tension between the Queen and her daughter-in-law.
Purple is a shade Her Majesty seems to be enjoying of late.
Just last week, the Queen wore a purple tweed jacket to mark 50 years since Prince Charles was officially made Prince of Wales, during a party at Buckingham Palace.
