Frugal bride praised for budget backyard wedding that cost less than $3000

A US bride who spent $2996 on a budget backyard wedding has explained how she did it, earning praise from family, friends and TikTokers alike.

Amber Dupree from Florida has shared footage on TikTok (@amber.dupree) of her frugal nuptials, explaining in the video, "You have a backyard wedding under $2000 [approx $AUD2996] because marrying your best friend is all that matters to you."

In the video, Dupree wears a gorgeous white gown complete with train and bouquet, the dress having been purchased from Amazon Fashion for $USD98 ($148).

Her hair is fashioned in loose waves and pinned back with a headdress fastened to it.

She pauses while walking down the 'aisle' to give her son a kiss, before continuing to her waiting groom, standing under a makeshift altar that has been decorated with white fabric.

"Same girl same! We did a small wedding and used our money on building our dream home!" one of her TikTokers commented.

The bride responded, "That's the plan!"

"We should definitely begin to normalize backyard weddings! It's all about the love," another commenter said.

Another newlywed shared details of their own budget wedding.

"That was me this weekend! $40 dress, dollar tree decorations friends put together, a cute potluck style reception, and all the love. It was perfect!" she wrote in a comment.

"Mine cost the application fee and a dinner to Cheesecake Factory. Have been together for over 21 years," another shared.

Another frugal bride wrote, "We did the a $2500 wedding in a park. Used the extra money to put down on our house."
