British 'millionaire' and his wife feared dead after bloodstains found in luxury Thai home

There are grave fears for a British businessman and his wife, who vanished from their luxury home in Thailand, where traces of blood have since been found on the walls.

It's been five days since Alan Hogg and his wife, Nott, were last seen and police suspect their disappearance may be connected to a long-standing family conflict, reports The Telegraph.

Mr Hogg, 64, and wife, 61, are frequent visitors to Australia, where he worked as an engineer.

During a search of their three-storey home in the northern town of Phrae, bloodstains were reportedly found in a sink and on the wall of their swimming pool changing room, allegedly with signs someone had tried to clean it off, according to the Bangkok Post.

Locals from their home town have described Mr Hogg as a millionaire.

Mrs Hogg's mobile phone was found inside the home, as investigators pour through CCTV vision.

Sniffer dogs have been called in to scour the home, while forensic police divers have searched a local river.

Mr Hogg's brother-in-law, Warut Satchakit, was arrested and charged with theft after security vision emerged showing him entering the gated property and leaving in the couple's new white Ford Ranger.

The truck was then sold the day after the couple was reported missing.

Major General Sanpat Praputsra from the Thai Police described the case as "moving well" and says at least two people were involved in the couple's disappearance.

"The issue is likely to be a long-standing conflict within the family. We cannot find any other situations that are likely to have caused this," he says.

"The brother-in-law had problems with money and there were family issues."

A friend reported the couple as missing two days after they were due to meet in Chiang Mai.

Originally from Scotland, Mr Hogg is described on Companies House as an offshore construction manager, with links to several businesses in the U.K.
