Bride-to-be gives bridesmaids 'list of duties' ahead of wedding
A bride-to-be has caused controversy after sharing a photo of her bridesmaids' 'proposal boxes' on Facebook, including instructions on how to fulfill their duties.
Bridesmaid proposal boxes are a popular new trend that usually feature a gift and a personalised request for the friend in question to be on the bridal party.
This particular bride included these, and then some.
Her decision to include a 'cheat sheet' listing all of the requirements her bridesmaids will face ahead of this particular wedding is ruffling feathers.

The detailed list includes six ways in which her bridesmaids can fulfill their duties to meet her expectations including purchasing a joint wedding gift for her.

Screenshots of the 'cheat sheet' is now being shared far and wide, with most social media followers criticising the list, in particular the instruction to purchase a joint wedding gift.
One social media follower wrote: "Yikes! The boxes are cute but the list of duties telling the bridesmaids to buy the bride a gift is rough."

Another said: "I hate this – it's so demanding! Your bridesmaids are your friends not your funding source."
"Aren't the bride and groom meant to get the bridal party little gifts, not the other way around?" another said.
One social media follower questioned why the bride expected her bridesmaids to go to so much expense.
"If they're expected to pay for their outfits and accessories and pre wedding activities then that should be their wedding gift. Expecting a gift on top of everything else is just too much."

And another person said: "So she expects them to chip in and buy a gift but she can't even buy their bridesmaids dresses?"
One social media follower questioned the brides expectation that her bridesmaids would pay for their own dresses, although this is a common expectation when it comes to most weddings.
"I don't understand making your bridesmaids pay for their dresses etc. How do you ask someone a favour and then ask them to fork out a bomb for it. We pay for it all and still buy them a present to say thanks, not the other way around," they said.

"In Australia it's standard custom for bridesmaids to purchase their dresses," another explained. "A lot of people take this into consideration when agreeing to be a bridesmaid in the first place."
One follower said she appreciates the bride's specific instructions, saying she'd prefer it so there was no room for error.
"I like this. Tell me what you need or expect so that there are no surprises, and since it's a proposal I can always say 'no' if I'm not okay with any of it – simple."
