A bride has caused a stir online after sending a very "intimate" request to a photographer she considered hiring for her wedding.

The unnamed woman, who is believed to hail from the US, reached out to the unidentified photographer in the leadup to her nuptials.

With the rise of social media, wedding photographers are in more demand than ever, but this one was shocked by the bride's request.

"I just came across your page on Facebook as I'm looking for a last-minute photographer, the one we had just cancelled on us," read the note from the bride.

Explaining that their "unusual" wedding is set to run across two full days, the bride said she required three to four photographers to cover the blow-out event.

"But we would settle for two, as beggars can't be choosers," she conceded, adding she and her future husband are willing to pay for all the "pricey" raw images.

Then things took a weird twist, as the bride requested something – ahem – extra from the photographer.

"We will also need some intimate photos after [the] wedding as this will be our first night together," she wrote.

The bride then asked for a quote for 20-25 hours of the photographer's time, as well as all the raw images – but we're still stuck on her "intimate" request.

The suggestion seemed to be that the photographer would accompany the newlyweds to the honeymoon suite and photograph the consummation of their marriage.

Safe to say, the photographer wasn't on board for that particular job, which some people labelled a "porn shoot" of the couple "losing their virginity".

More than 800 people responded to the screenshot, which was shared to Facebook by a friend of the photographer.

Many were horrified by the bride's request, writing "ow embarrassing" and "oh my lord".

"Are post-wedding sex photos a tradition I've never heard of?" one pondered, another saying: "Do they need proof of the consummation??"

But some people defended the couple, writing that "intimate" photography is not the same as pornography.

"I think maybe she means like a couple's boudoir shoot," one person suggested.

Another wrote: "It won't be porn, it will likely be him and her in her bridal lingerie."

Boudoir and other intimate styles of photography have become more popular in recent years, with boudoir photographers often in high demand.

Many people said intimate photos of the couple on their wedding night didn't have to be 'pornographic'. Getty

Several such photographers commented on the post, saying it wasn't unusual for newlywed couples to approach them for intimate snaps.

While some confessed it was rarely on the wedding night, they said the photos were tasteful and a great way for the couple to commemorate intimate moments.
