'Bridezillas' are known for their extreme behaviour, but one bride has truly taken the cake, going to outrageous lengths to ensure she was the centre of attention on her big day.

Sharing her story with women's website Whimn, 'Penny' admits that after a lifetime of being "the plain sister", she began a ploy to ensure nobody could possibly outshine her on her wedding day.

To this end, she tried to fatten up the bridal party - two sisters and a friend - and deliberately chose unflattering dresses for them to wear.

"Both my sisters are gorgeous ... I always felt like Jan Brady in the middle -- I wasn't as hot and popular as my older sister, and I wasn't as cute and fun as my younger sister," she tells Whimn.

"But I found a man who loved me for me and I couldn't be happier."

She chose neon yellow dresses to make her "fair-skinned and blonde" bridesmaids appear "washed out and slightly ill".

She then purchased containers of slimming shakes for her bridesmaids, emptying out the contents and replacing it with "mega-weight gain protein powder."

"At first I went easy, but by the month before the wedding I was adding triple the prescribed amount into [their] smoothie, leaving my own simply as fruit and coconut water."

The bride says her evil plan "worked like a charm", with her sisters needing to have their gowns altered after gaining weight.

The story has since gone global, with Twitter users condemning the bride's "unbelievable" actions.
