A bride who has made the difficult choice to uninvite her siblings from her wedding has explained the complex blended-family dynamics behind her decision.

Writing on Reddit's 'Am I The Asshole' thread, the woman, 25, explains she was raised with her her sister, 27, and her brother, 28, until 2019, believing they were a "nuclear biological family".

"Then we found out our dad wasn't our bio dad, which even he didn't know, it then turned out my older siblings shared a bio dad but I had a different one," she explains.

"We were also first cousins because their bio [dad] and my bio were brothers."

Following this series of bombshells, her father left the marriage "hurt, betrayed, and overall disgusted" that his partner had lied to him for two decades."

"I was equally mad that [Mum] lied and hurt my dad. My siblings were less willing to cut her off but their relationship strained majorly," the post continues.

The bride-to-be's father moved in with her and her future husband, and during this time, she and her siblings agreed "he was dad no matter what" and "there was nothing that could change that".

"I meant it; they didn't," she writes.

Her siblings proceeded to find their biological father and have now decided he is their "real dad", while the father they knew from birth is "just a stepdad".

"My brother has even corrected his two little girls who called dad grandpa, into saying he's step-grandpa and that's what they call him, while bio gets called grandpa," she writes.

"It broken my dad's heart and he decided it was too much for him to accept," she explains.

"This is after talks between them where he was essentially told to know his place, stay in his lane and demoted with the clear message being nothing would change."

The bride says she is upset with her siblings over their choices, so much so that she has now uninvited them to her wedding, leaving them feeling "hurt".

However she maintains she has made the right choice because she is distressed at how they are treating the man she considers to be her dad.

The bride's Reddit followers share her distress at how her siblings are treating her dad.

"I hope you and your dad have a blast at the wedding," one writes.

"What I find interesting is that their arguments for wanting to be invited to the wedding contradict their treatment of your father. They can't have it both ways!" another adds.

"You're an epic daughter, and if he'd your dad then he's Your Dad and biology don't mean s--t," adds another person.

One comment reads: "But didn't your dad raise them their whole lives? And they've just dismissed everything he's done because your mum lied. Essentially it's your wedding you can invite & disinvite who you want."

"You just gotta love hypocrites and their mental gymnastics," another person writes.
