Bride insists pregnant bridesmaid owes her $30k for ‘upstaging’ her

No matter how meticulously you plan your wedding, there's always the chance something could go wrong.

One bride has baffled the internet after claiming her pregnant bridesmaid "upstaged" her on her wedding day and therefore owes her $30,000 for a "do over."

Writing in Reddit's 'Am I the A—hole' forum, the bride explained she was left "in tears" and her wedding day "ruined" after one of her bridesmaids got too much attention on her big day.

The bride explained she chose six bridesmaids for her $30,000 wedding and initially only offered plus-ones to the two who were in long-term relationships.

However, as her wedding was three years away, one of the other bridesmaids—dubbed Anna—insisted all the bridesmaids should be allowed to bring a date, so the bride conceded.

At the time Anna was dating a guy "casually", but when it takes three years to plan a wedding, a few things are going to happen in the meantime.

"Anna actually continued to date that guy, and married him four months before my wedding at two months pregnant," the bride wrote.

She was initially peeved Anna brought her new husband as her plus one because the bride had never met him – which was apparently a major issue – but the pregnancy was the real source of drama.

"She was hugely pregnant, and didn't refrain from showing it off," the bride wrote.

She explained being pregnant at 25 was "basically a teenage pregnancy" in her husband's culture and drew plenty of attention to Anna.

That wasn't the only problem: the bride also took issue with Anna's "vibrant personality" and her husband being "very tall and incredibly attractive", claiming the couple were drawing attention away from her on her big day.

"She also has a vibrant personality and has a way of eclipsing everyone around her. Her husband is also very tall and incredibly attractive, which drew a lot of attention,” her post continued.

"All anyone spoke about or of was Anna's pregnancy and her attractive husband.

"Even in the line, people were asking about that ‘electric woman' and of her pregnancy/marriage/life. When they got up to dance, all eyes were on them."

The infuriated bride ended up leaving her own reception "in tears" halfway through, and refused to attend a brunch the next morning, despite the fact Anna and her husband wouldn't even be there.

Now she's insisting Anna not only "ruined" her wedding day, but owes her a totally new one for "upstaging" her.

"I can't even look at the pictures without crying and desperately want a do over," the bride wrote, insisting she isn't a "bridezilla."

"I'm sorry, but I put so much planning, effort, and money into this while someone that got pregnant without a thought and married spur of the moment reaped the benefits.

"I honestly feel like Anna owes me a wedding and did all of this as revenge for me offending her years ago. Am I wrong?"

Fellow Redditors were quick to inform her that yes, she was completely wrong—and a drama queen to boot.

"Getting angry at a bridesmaid for being pregnant or having an attractive husband and an outgoing personality is just ridiculous," one wrote.

"And there is no way the poor bridesmaid should owe the cost of a wedding because of it."

Another said: "Just because you spent 3 years and a presumably absurd amount of money on your wedding doesn’t mean you get to control aspects of your friends’ lives such as who they date, who their other friends are, how charismatic and attractive they are, or when they get pregnant."

Hopefully the bride realises she's in the wrong before she sends poor Anna a $30,000 bill.
