Boyfriends heartbreaking words as girlfriend died from stab wound

A UK teenager has been killed in what is thought to have be a random, violent attack.

Jodie Chesney, 17, was stabbed to death in a park Harold Hill, Havering, east London on Friday.

Witness Teresa Farenden - who lives close to the scene - told Sky News she heard shouting after the attack.

"I heard a lot of loud arguing, a lot of loud noise, shouting, followed by a really loud scream," she said.

"The scream was very disturbing to hear. Then I heard someone shouting out, 'Help me, help me'."

Farenden, 49, described seeing the girl's boyfriend Eddie Coyle holding and kissing her and begging her to "stay awake".

She later told The Sun, "The boyfriend was holding her and kissing her face. He was whispering and begging her, 'Please, please stay awake.'

"I turned to look at her and my friend, who had come to help, just said, 'We've lost her.'"

Chesney was at the park with friends and boyfriend when she was reportedly stabbed once in the back by a stranger in an apparent random attack that was so vicious, the blade of the knife reportedly broke off.

Farenden and her friend ran into the park to try and help, putting her in the recovery position, trying CPR and calling an ambulance.

The teen was pronounced dead at 10.26pm, shortly after paramedics arrived on the scene.

Today her devastated mum Claire Gillham visited the park, placing flowers at the sight. She was also seen being hugged.

One message left at the park said, "You are so strong. We will always remember you."

Grandmother Debbie Chesney said too many people were having their lives "cut short by needless violence".

"This was our youngest granddaughter," she wrote in a Facebook post.

"How have we come to this point where kids can't have a walk in a park without suffering an unprovoked attack? If anyone knows anything about this please contact the police with information.

"We don't want anyone else to go through what our family is suffering right now. This has to stop, there are too many young people having their lives cut short by needless violence."

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command (HMCC) have launched a murder investigation.

Acting Detective Chief Superintendent John Ross of the East Area Command Unit said: "Her death is a tragedy. I can reassure them and the whole community that we are doing everything possible to identify and bring to justice the person or persons responsible.  "It is days like these that really do highlight how we must continue to work tirelessly with our partners and the public to tackle knife crime."

So far there have been no arrests.
