Best Selfie: Sophie Monk reveals the 'casual' pic that took hours and caused an argument
In 9Honey's new series Best Selfie, we present stars with old images from their Instagram feed to see how they react. Expect memories of joy, heartbreak and insecurities, all retold through the lens of time.
Australian singer, model, and TV personality Sophie Monk has been gracing both our small and big screens for over 20 years.
She's appeared on The Bachelorette Australia, judged Australia's Got Talent, and hosted dating shows such as Love Island Australia and Beauty and the Geek Australia. Monk also has a significant social media presence, with a large following she regularly interacts with.
She's been on Instagram ever since the app started over 10 years ago, so when we sat down with her to chat about her old photos, she took us through all the moments – from the memorable to the cringeworthy, and a few moments that are a bit of both.

One of the photos was a beautiful engagement photo of Monk and her now-husband Joshua Gross.
"It's funny because the photo looks very casual but we took that for about two hours until we were both happy," she said. "It was so hard to get a nice happy shot, we were really angry at each other."
Monk told 9Honey the moment was really happy and exciting, but the process of taking the photo was so difficult they almost gave up.
"'Don't even worry about doing it, I'll just do my hand' but my hands are all veiny so we went back to taking the photo."

Regardless, Monk says the photo reminds her of the love she received at that time.
"There are so many nice memories that come back with that photo because I got so much support."
9Honey also showed the TV host some more embarrassing photos. One was taken 10 years ago and heavily filtered with an unusual caption.
"I've gotten better at making content," she said when shown the photo.
"I must've been very insecure or trying to impress someone around that time."

Monk was very proud when 9Honey showed her a pic she'd shared of herself with a severe ski goggle tan.
"It's not trying too hard and I definitely don't look hot," she laughed.
The last photo showed Monk pulling an unusual face. "I don't even know why I did that, oh I'm such a tool," she said. "It says #nofilter but I bet I used one."
The model even admitted she sometimes used the photo editing app Facetune on some of her selfies.
"Not gonna lie, there's a bit of Facetune on there too," she laughed.
