"Everything good I have in my life, other than Lisa and my two beautiful kids, and my mum, I wouldn't have it if I didn't have recovery," Tate said, referring to his wife Lisa.

Tate added that he "wouldn't be able to do what we do" and "wouldn't be able to connect with the kids" the way he does otherwise.

The social media star said he had used drinking "for everything".

He told the podcasters it had been a "long journey" for him trying to be sober.

When asked about when he decided sobriety was most important, Tate recalled a pivotal moment was when he "blacked out" at his own wedding.

"I was just filled with remorse, guilt and regret," he admitted.

A couple of weeks later, his wife found him blacked out and gave him the ultimatum to "clean up" or they were over.

He ended up seeing his psychologist and kickstarting his sobriety journey.

However, when his daughter Zara was born, Tate, who was nine months sober, relapsed.

"I'll never forget, I went home and Zara was nine months old, and she pulled herself up to the couch and looked at me with those pure [eyes] and I was done [with drinking]," he recalled.

"I knew I needed to really throw myself into my recovery, and my thing today is trying to help others, because every day I get to help someone, that's helping me."
