'Batkid' celebrates his greatest victory yet

A little boy with cancer who found fame when he dressed up as Batkid, 'saving' San Francisco from the baddies, has been given the all-clear.

Miles Scott was just one year old when he was diagnosed with leukaemia. He's now 10 and has officially passed his five-year mark of being cancer free.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation in the United States announced the milestone, saying, "He's doing great".

"Miles has returned to being a typical kid - playing little league, going to school, helping his family farm, and even selling his first market goat in the local fair," the foundation said via a statement.

In 2013, Miles was granted his wish to become comic book hero Batman for the day.

The foundation staged several events across San Francisco, helping to make his crime-fighting dream come true.

During the spectacle, Batkid helped to lock up the Riddler during a bank robbery and stopped the Penguin from taking hostages.

Two black Lamborghinis were converted into Batmobiles and more than 2000 people turned out to watch the unfolding events around the iconic City Hall.

Even then-president Barack Obama got involved, saying, "No more supervillains because Batkid cleaned up the streets. I love Batkid."

The event was a celebration to mark Miles's last round of medication after having battled through three years of cancer treatment.

It was one of the Make-A-Wish Foundation's most popular events, with the charity's websites receiving about 1400 hits a second.

Miles now lives in North Carolina and loves science and robotics, according to the foundation.
